Notwithstanding the score, this was a very good result for the Malton lads. This was their first proper match this season and judging from this display they should be winning a few this year.

The forwards, led by Tom Munday, won some good ball, and the likes of James Whincup and Sam Mills caused York some real problems.

The backs looked sharp and ran some good lines. Scott Kneeshaw and Adam Magee are beginning to click, and with Nick Emblton as outside centre things look good there.

The 14 to nil score line does not reflect what an even match this was and all looks well for next week v Bridlington.

27 - 12

Building on last weeks good display, Malton & Norton's U15s came out fighting. Due to 'no shows', they could only turn out 14 men but this didn't seem to matter. After some great pressure No. 8, Tom Munday opened the scoring for Malton.

Bridlington came back strongly and took the lead with a converted try. Full back, James Dempsey, pulled Malton back with a great score, running from deep and once again Bridlington went ahead from a cross field kick.

The half time score was 10 - 12 to the visitors. In the second half Bridlington lost their way and Malton took the lead with a kick through from No 10, Adam Magee. The home side soaked up lots of pressure; Christie Mc Gibbon and Chris Marton took a lot of Bridlington's ball.

Scott Kneeshaw danced through for Malton's next try which was converted by Adam Magee, and Tom Munday rounded the day off with his second. An excellent 27 - 12 win over Bridlington.

Malton & Norton 32 V 0 Beverley
Malton and Norton started slowly and looked as if they were still in bed, perhaps as a result of the clocks changing and the lost hour!

Fifteen minutes into the match they woke up, spun the ball out wide and put 'Little Ben', on the wing, over for his first try. From then on it was one-way traffic for Malton. Right wing, Nick Bastow, was second to score, followed by Nicky Embleton, to stretch their lead. Malton's forwards started to win excellent ball which allowed their backs to run the ball out at will and James Dempsey, to cap the first half, jinked his way through for a fourth touch down.

Beverley came back strongly at the restart and the home team had to soak up some determined attacks. Malton's defence held out, got the ball and broke out, Nicky Embleton nearly crossed the line but Little Ben picked up for his second try.

James Dempsey finished with a second for himself and a decisive 32 to nil victory. The only down side for Malton was a dislocated shoulder for Tom Munday, causing him considerable pain. We all wish him well.
